Propolis is a natural substance produced by honeybees, often called bee glue or bee resin. It is a brown-yellow, resinous mass with an aromatic scent. Bees collect resins from buds and tree bark, mix them with wax and their own enzymes, and create propolis. Inside the hive they use this “bee putty” to seal gaps and protect the colony from germs and pests. The name comes from Greek: “pro” means “before / for” and “polis” means “city”, pointing to its protective role for the “bee city”. Our water-based propolis solution is made with the highest purity and gentle processing. Unlike many propolis extracts dissolved in alcohol or oils, this product is alcohol- and oil-free, based on an aqueous solution. That makes it especially mild and preserves the natural actives (alcohol can partially destroy delicate propolis compounds, reducing the natural effect of alcoholic tinctures).
